10am CST "Tropical Depression Ivan" ( yes that's
right it's not gone yet) is over Texas. This Storm made
landfall as a powerful hurricane between Mobile Bay and Pensacola
back on early morning hours of Sept 16, killing many, destroying
billions of dollars worth of property, then moved up thru the states
as a rain maker and tornado spawner, killing more and making
hundreds homeless, emerged over the gulf, turned around went south
and then back over Florida, re-entered the Gulf of Mexico and this
time has moved over Texas. A remarkable system that wont seem
to go away. It's deadly hurricane winds have long since left it, but
it's a rain maker and definitely will stay in the memories of many
people for a long time to come.

Ivan and its remnants have been blamed for at least 52 deaths in the United
States and 70 deaths in the Caribbean
More weather still to come from
Ivan next week??????? 9/20/04 from weather.com
An area of low pressure off of the east coast of Florida
is actually a remnant of once-Hurricane Ivan. The upper-level vortex dropped
south from the Mid-Atlantic and spun up a surface low off the Florida
Peninsula. Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms spread across central
and southern Florida during the day today. The pressure gradient between
this low and a strong area of high pressure in the Northeast has been
responsible for strong winds along the Georgia and Florida coast. This
northeasterly flow is also causing dangerous rip currents, high surf, and
beach erosion across Florida. These threatening conditions will continue
across the east coast of Florida on Tuesday and people should not venture
into the water. The remnant low from Ivan will track westward on Tuesday,
bringing more wet weather to the Florida Peninsula. This low is expected to
re-emerge in the eastern Gulf of Mexico later on Tuesday and perhaps bring
wet weather to the western or central Gulf Coast by week's end.

American Red Cross workers
say they're dealing more
with a misinformed public
than they are with
legitimate storm victims. On
Monday morning 3,000 people
lined up outside at the
Jackson County Civic Center
where the Red Cross is
operating its family
services center.
On Sunday, we told you
about long lines where about
1,000 people had arrived
seeking assistance. WLOX
aired a plea from the
American Red Cross for
people not to come here
unless they had already had
already been approved for
help. Even with that report,
the crowds tripled on
Monday. Red Cross officials
believe rumors and innuendo
are causing problems.
Jackson County sheriff's
deputies and mounted patrol
officers took control of
what American Cross workers
say could have easily become
a crisis situation.
